Grandpa Hirschi

August 26, 1926- September 18, 2012

I love you grandpa! I am in charge of doing the video for the funeral so I have been lucky to go through all these pictures. My grandpa was a stud!

1st day of preschool

1st day of preschool could have gone better. As you can see in the picture Lincoln was NOT excited. It took me and both his teachers to pry his death grip off of me. Then he yelled don't leave me mom! It was horrible. I cried when I got in the car. It's one thing to let your kid go who is excited to go and another when your kid is screaming for you to not leave him. Ugh. Well, he's been 4 times so far and only one of them went well. Hopefully he will get over this soon. Anyways, here are a few things about this little lover boy of mine...

He is a homebody

He could be content to watch T.V. all day if we let him

His favorite color is orange

He loves to dance

He is our little comedian. Always cracking us up

He still loves his brother more than anyone

He is very considerate for a 4 year old

He LOVES to ride his bike

He is our little worrier.
He hates getting his hair cut
He is very passionate. He either loves things or hates them. There's not a lot in between
He loves to snuggle
If Aaron and I want to nap Lincoln will just lay down next to us and nap too even if he wasn't tired
He loves gatorade. Actually, he might even be a little addicted to it.
We love you soooo much little Lincs!

1st day of 2nd grade

Oh my gosh! How do I have a 2nd grader? I'm old. Anyway, this kid is awesome! Some things about Ezra
- he loves to learn.
- science is his favorite subject
- his favorite color is green
- he wants to be in the military when he grows up
- he LOVES riding his bike
- he loves his friends. Sometimes I'll even hear him telling his friends he loves them when it's time for them to leave:)
- he has a big heart
- but he can hold a serious grudge
- as much as Lincoln bugs him, Ezra will protect him and makes sure no one will hurt him
- he always thinks for himself. He asks deep questions about life, death, marriage and the gospel.
- he is still as picky as ever when it comes to his clothes. It is a battle I don't fight anymore. It's not worth it.
- which brings me to... if truly believes in something there is nothing you can do to change his mind.
- we read Harry Potter every night and he loves them! We're almost done with Chamber of Secrets. I'm so proud :)
- he already has his mind made up about this election. Which is funny because Aaron and I don't talk about our views to him but somehow he knows who President Obama is and the basics of what Obama wants for this country and the same for Mitt Romney. I don't know where he gets his information, maybe from the commercials. I don't know:) Funny kid
- he likes to have his mama tickle his back at night
- he still likes to cuddle
- he makes Aaron and I so happy! I'm so proud of this beautiful child of mine:) I Love You Ezra!

Ezra's birthday.
For Ezra's 7th birthday he wanted to go to the YMCA and swim. So, we told him he could only invite 5 friends. We swam for an hour and a hlaf then came home and did cake and ice cream then presents. Played for a few minutes then parents came to pick up the kids. Totally low key just the way we like it:)

On a random note, we walked outside and our neighbors had two horses chillin in their front yard. Um... it was kinda weird maybe even a little sketchy because how my neighbors got them and from where is a question I didn't want to ask :/ So, naturally I let the kids ride them. Why not? 

Life

This month marks 3 years of living with my grandparents. What was supposed to be 1 year will end up being 4 years. We ended up changing our plans which meant more schooling and it just happened to work out for us and my grandparents if we just stayed put. Although this has been 3 of the hardest years ever, we have been blessed tremendously. Yeah, it's not ideal to live with family and sometimes I feel like I need to be dropped off at a mental institution but it works. I'm grateful that I've been able to spend a lot time with my grandparents and that my kids have gotten to know and love them. The whole reason for this post is the other day Aaron, me and the kids were driving in the car and this was our conversation

Lincoln- When we move are grandma and grandpa coming with us

Me- No Lincs. We live with them in their home. They will stay

Lincoln- Why? I want them to move with us.

Ezra- Ha, Lincoln thinks grandma and grandpa are like our parents

Aaron- No, he just loves them and wants them to stay with us

Lincoln- Yeah, I love Grandma and Grandpa

When we moved in, Lincoln just turned 1. This is all he knows. There is a mom, dad, brother, grandpa and grandma. Lincoln loves them and is pretty attached. Ezra loves them but I don't think he is that attached to them because he remembers life before them. My Grandpa is going downhill pretty fast. And I know he isn't going to be around much longer. In all honesty I don't even think he'll make it to Christmas. I hope I'm wrong but that's the reality of it. We've had the talk with the kids about death and how that's a part of life. I just hope my boys can look back on this time and cherish the time they had with their great grandparents.

Scott's wedding/ mini vacation

My little brother got married this last weekend in Spokane, Washington. We drove up there. Other than the whole fiasco with the rent a car it was a good trip!1st day Las Vegas to Idaho Falls. 2nd Idaho Falls to Spokane. Lots of car time but the kids did really good. Some highlights of the trip...

Spent a day in Coeur d' Alene. If you never been there, go! It was beautiful! I'm in love with that town. I might think a little differently in the winter but if I'm ever wealthy I will have a summer home there. LOve it!

Found a really awesome park. Rode a train

Rode on an original carousel from 1909. Umm it was the fastest one I've ever been on! Crazy

Played on a a radio wagon that was HUGE!

Saw the Spokane falls.

And spent some good quality family time:)

Hung out at the reception. It was behind a church in an open field. So pretty!

We stopped in Salt Lake city for 3 hours on our way home. So glad we did. It was muggy and hot but worth it. We toured the conference center. Walked the temple grounds. Walked to new mall.

I'm so glad we where able to go and make a little vacation out if it! I'm so happy for Scott and Elizabeth!
